The Inner Child- 20th December 2000

SOMETIMES it helps to go back to the beginning, to that one central starting point for which we can be certain. In our spiritual lives, our living concepts too, we carry within us a heritage and a story of origin which ekes out all other truth to be later weighed against it. We can become our own point of reference as it were, when we seek out that time before time, of our original selves.

This is not to be morbid or self-indulgent, for the practice of this reminiscing is restrengthening in itself when it returns into that innocence. It verily puts the 'fun' back into fundamental - this sensing spiritually of our own beginnings.

Folk often presume that we are a collaboration of knowledge amassed, compounded and evolved, developing ever larger. In Paradise there was such a communal condition that individuals did not necessarily know much for themselves at all, for the knowing was all around them. Stories and fragmented concepts could be gleaned and experienced from plant life, animal life, angelic life, spirit life and human life (even star-wisdom if one liked). We were surrounded by an accessible wisdom and there was no pressing need to take it all into ourselves to keep. (This would of course, be an impossibility anywise.)

In truth, in spiritual reality, this is as it is today also. Wisdom is all about us, and even the most guarded of esoteric truths are truths because they are based upon a tangible reality which is self-evident and as such can be found and made known also. There is nothing that cannot be known and experienced by us if we have the enquiry and the patience to see it through. The Heavens are at our beckoning, reasoning is ever more obligingly reasonable and the guiding spirits who have been our benefactors for many eons welcome our questing to learn more of our life.

However, as indicated before, much of our thinking is somewhat fragmented today. Concepts are drawn away from their parent stories (and therefore inevitably out of context and immediate relativity) and our ability to listen to the wisdoms has been deterred by a static, a communal materialistic nonsense, which blocks the commuting of an otherwise empathetic understanding.

And no, this has little to do with the developing egohood and its fledgling activities. For the course to a greater sense of self needs be imbued with the virtue of great listening rather than closure, for it to become all it can be. It is not natural necessarily for folk to become stupid to the soul's wisdom evident in others, merely because a little of their own has been given over to the egoic knowing.

What is meant to be said here is simply this: soul life is amenable to all other soul life. The aspects of soul speak to us from others and reach us in subtle ways which are agreeable. Within our egohood there must be challenging conflicts continuously. These will occur within our own reckonings and also in contest with one another. Through our egoic knowledge of each other we strengthen by comparison, and we comprehend in a rhythm that requires subjective reference as much as it does objective reasoning.

However, on the soulic side of our comprehending we have an immediate insight as to the perspective and nature of those others we are trying to share with. This being so, we are most fortunately placed when making an effort to understand or to listen as we might, if we are really motivated to learn from this other who is different. In this we are not compelled into pseudo-sameness, but rather hold the means to meet with a language and a presence which is both agreeable and comprehendible to that of our own nature.

The story of the birth of the Christ Child brings before us a soul-picture of great trust. It is interesting that this pre-egoic condition is portrayed so well, because later it truly and wonderfully becomes in that transition during the Baptism, whereupon the ego of a man gave over willingly to Christ and allowed the succession to follow.

Now this was prepared for, and the ego of that Jesus knew of the precedent he was helping to formulate within the world because of his act of sacrifice. He knew that by this act of withdrawal (and it was painful) that future men and women could similarly (though not as dramatically) have the Christ permeate their beings right into the material world. His Being could be fully incarnate through them, whereas before it was not.

People often confuse soul-wisdom with an ancient wisdom, and yet the soul-wisdom is far older than that! (No Dear, we are not splitting hares here!) [That is 'hares' - a moon reference.] This is in fact the whole point of this topic. Ancient wisdom - Arcadia - is marked with a very distinct signature of its own, representative to an age, to a people and to a message which was more relevant to its pertinence then, than is likely now.

History can be a superb teacher or a complaining ghoul … but whichever of the two it is aged, whereas the soulic wisdom is ageless. One cannot draw vitality out from the ancients! It is long overdrawn and without. It may inspire us in a fashion which promotes a vitality because of our enthusiasm, but of itself there is naught there but remnant discard.

Yet with the soulic wisdom there is a paradisiacal youthfulness with an utter recollection of origin, of beginnings, in the simplest of forms. This is our own Christ Child within us which can speak to us, over the many languages unknown and gesturing behind the otherwise veiled comprehensions. This Christ Child can prepare us for a yet greater and more complex knowing which goes on to translate into our egoic reasonings and then to permeate our material consciousness.

Folk often wonder as to why we are not merely our spiritual selves; why it is we persevere with the physical condition and appeal to it in ways which will hopefully transform it remarkably. One of the great mysteries of the physical connection lies in its relation to the spiritual worlds, in that we may perceive it as an island separated off. The spiritual beings themselves may have difficulty understanding much of our own experience here as well. Yet the 'stuff' it is made of is actually soulic in substance and of great rarefied beauty … not at all coarse or dense as the New Age or the Gnostics might have condemned it to always be. It is inhibited, but not without hope - and certainly not without its own spirituality.

So when we look now to the world, we look to our Christ being Incarnate. There in amongst every particle, in fresh sprout, in perspired scent, He is. This story is perpetuated daily, and is most known to us because of that inner child within us. Not the child of our own selves who protested adulthood, not the child of carefree vulnerability, but rather the child, the inner, inner child - the Christ Child.

It is through this process of the Christ Child can we receive Him incarnate into our beings, into our consciousness and into our fully developing egos as well. This Child is not one of nonsense or trivia, but indeed does carry the woes of the world, because of that incredible empathy known which is conversant with every story which is livingly told in the world today. Yet we need not be frightened or alarmed at these great stories, at these wisdoms all about us, because it is through Him that we come to them, through His Knowing that we are fully instructed.

Sometimes we can experience a feeling of great peace, of great love, for seemingly no particular reason. And too, at times, we might look out across at something or someone, and appreciate them in ways which are undefinably beautiful - and there will be that little Child.

He is often slumbering in the bud with a flower fairy. He holds the hands of the trembling parent. He walks alongside the child and stands by the bedside throughout the dark night. He sits with the very elderly in the quiet. He plays with the lambs in the spring paddocks. He teases the trolls and rebukes the tedious gremlins. He welcomes at the North Pole, and blows kisses at the South. He counts his fingers and toes and therein finds all of Humanity. He whispers secrets to our hearts, when only our hearts can know.

Merry Christmas and Christ be with you!

Flowers Laugh- 6th December 2000

EVERY flower manifests a living memory, for it carries within it the sun; and amongst these glowing and gossamer vitalities, there are also reminiscences (remini-scents) of Paradise. When we take a flower into our home or onto our lapel, we have a representative there with us of that which we have momentarily forgotten.

The flower is not drab, but bold; it states its living with great exuberance and even the most delicately petalled are in truth much more confident than demure.

Flowers laugh. They and their elemental buddies, are joyfully placed all day long. This is why they sleep so heavily at night - too much laughter in the bright light of day!

If you personally get to know a flower it may share this with you. The conviviality may not exactly translate over, but a gentle amusement will surely abide.

His Love Increases- 1st December 2000

Around the dial,
Around and around;
Beneath the sea's swell,
Up and down, up and down,
Moves the ceaseless spirit.

In traffic of words,
Chatter chat, chatter chat;
In water through fiords,
Spashity splat, spashity splat,
His Love increases.

Through hymnal praise,
Sing-song-sung, sing-song-sung;
And nights, bedding days,
Season after season and beyond,
We are one.

With troll's endless laughter,
Snickery jeer, snickery jeer,
And befores giving way to the after,
Tear upon tear, tear upon tear,
His Smile is upon us.

Oh gladness, joy and magnificent men!
Who work and toil for a better times ten!
Be it peace, yet be great,
With the life Heaven meant,

May your days and your raves be one Christen-event!

The Dove with the Hairy Chest- 30th November 2000

IN ancient, ancient times, it was not uncommon to find a bird with fur and not feathers. The pelt was not unattractive but rather soft and glossy and ingeniously rippled with peacock hues.

These furry birds did not fly as they do today. They would run or jump far, or simply turn invisible and transmigrate through matter when decided. They would cuddle into the hollows within a tree or sandbank. They would sleep with their heads sideways, nestled into a furry neck, and their gem-like eyes would close for a time whilst they rested and dreamt of flight.

Ages hence and they are more delicately contrived. Their coat has been exchanged for an aerodynamic feathered wrap. When they drift into sleep nowadays, they are still carried away in dreams of flight, even though their day's occupation is filled with the air stream channels and the diving between. Their aspirations take them to higher skies, beyond the mantle of cloud, even further than the membrane surrounding the Earth.

For this is nature; and our nature too. We shall always be called to go further, and shall. Whatever form we may take on the way, will give over to yet another that shall take us even a little more further.

Like the birds with the hairy chest we all seek a freedom out from the conditions we are in. This is natural and a way of knowing that there are vast skies all about us, which we will travel in days to come with great joy!

Through Perilous Pass- 29th November 2000

Through perilous pass and rocky incline,
I have come all this way to this moment;
Though steep and foreboding, the air was so fine,
And with fragrance and fare,
I am finally here.

I have witnessed the flesh be born and then wither -
In countless thousands all belonging to me …
Knowing both of sweet death, and my lover, renewal,
In this temple wait I prayerfully.

Oh God of my heart,
Of my soul,
Of my life,
Be known in my days unto Eternity's time,
So though it be endless, fulfilled shall it be,
And the love I accomplish, shall accomplish in me.

Christ the Spectacular- 23rd November 2000

GREATNESS is hidden in all of its manifold mysteries, in Man!

What is this greatness? It is the Christ. You cannot separate Man from Christ, nor Christ from Man. There is in truth, no such distinction.

When you speak of Principalities and Thrones, are your bearings given to time (as in who came first) or to authority (as in original truth) or to power (as to who is most mighty of all)? By what criteria are you trying to name Christ and to what purpose?

Is the Christ in Man less than the Christ in the higher Logos, or are they one of the same? And by whose authority shall we speculate?

We are men. We know what we know as men know. We also know as Christ knows, for He indwells within us. Higher divinity knows. The consciousness of divinity does not know only selectively, but comprehensively - knowing all things at all times. We shall not discredit our own knowing by these distinctions. But what we shall do is arrive at an honesty from the outset which does not profess the ability to know what is unknowable to us at present.

If you accept Christ as the first and final authority … the One who was not only at the beginning of all primary manifestation, but also the One to which such Creation was the Author, then you may find something of this origin within yourself. He is the first and final power, the beginning and the end – the Alpha and the Omega … indwelling in Man.

Why look to another time and place? For in the way that you are telling of Him, he is none of these characters, which rightfully present within their own self-conscious identity. The mystery of it is that He is more of you than of deity one or deity two, as you would have it.

Find Him here. His Passion Lives in the Present. His Duty and His Pain do also. His Story is verily in the living moment. His Blood is red, and not black. His Breath is sweet and not fetid. His countenance cannot be contained. Find Him here.

Do you recall that for every age there is such a celebrity that hundreds of thousands of souls exemplify and find identity within their context? This is not unusual. In same manner, so have there been exalted beings who too have, in fragmented ways, identified with our Beloved Christ and faithfully mirrored such characteristics which are of Him. There is a myriad of key angelic lineages based on this principle. Great Bodhisattvas also wear the signature of one who is more exalted than themselves - a borrowed identity which they may be known by. So in like fashion there are scores of greater and lesser beings for which He may be attributed.

We ask you again to look to Man. Here within is our chance to find Him as we may know Him best. It was out from His desire for Man that the worlds unfurled originally. Nature was born out from our limbs, and the fruit and the wilderness both came from our loins (literally). When we danced through the Heavens our place upon the Earth was prepared … and when the creatures spilt upon the burgeoning landscape, it was our circus that commanded their appearances.

There are no other windows for us to look out of other than our own. Light streams in through those windows. That light brings us vivid images of far away gods and graces, who still glance in upon us upon His Light.

We are humble. Our greatness (His Being) is hidden from us. The lesser gods are not humble, they parade their glory, they emanate their beingness. Men suffer a false vanity from time to time, but even this has no real idea of the greatness which could be claimed. Paradoxically such greatness is no more useful when it is acknowledged, for it needs be shown in action, demonstrated in Christ-likeness: in the imitation of.

Christ is the beginning and the end, and all others are but characters within, which may carry a part of Him and be of Him, but are not Him in totality… save Man.

Duplicity lives in Man. This is the mystery at hand. This is why we burn to know and to name, but feel intensely His own breath within us. Added to this, for all of the characters depicted and given His Schedule, we can find those too within. This is because Man (and we of Mankind) bear these greater cosmic realities within us. We hold a broader capacity for such comprehension through Him.

And yet it is but our window.

Priesthood & the Laity- 19th November 2000

THERE will always be a captain to a ship. There shall always be a governing will or entity prevailing over an action. The mere appearance of a life which has collected, commands a commander - it summons according to vacuumous need; it makes a position through this law of default.

Of course, most often it is that an egoic body or angelic presence can by their sheer authority, draw together around them the necessary corporate constitutions they need for incarnation or for cosmic presentation. But the opposite is also true regarding the group life of men who form communities and consolidations, that any such collective will create a need for a presiding authoritative presence which is not participant as an equal, but becomes the very law of that collective, determining their future identity.

This is observable fact. You may watch a crowd disperse when the speaker has gone, a cult will dissolve when its charismatic head has left the body (unless an entity has taken its place), a successful business collapse when the entrepreneur has abandoned; and a committee shall be inevitably controlled by that one strong person, regardless of their being a vote.

The working principle itself in this is standard to nature. There will always be a collective which gathers around an intelligent nucleus that determines the very nature of that life of that collective, wherever men collect together and form an ensemble. This natural law will call for the same intelligent nucleus, but it will not necessarily have some inherent discretion or discernment as to what or whom would be preferable. Most often as not, the placement is made as abruptly as the position is available, and they are vulnerable to every passing 'captain' until that position is filled.

Of course it is most usual that such a 'captain' has begun and authorized a group initially, with the outcome being that said grouping is then quite comfortably neutral to any other imposing presence after that. This is observable in folk who swear allegiance to sporting teams: once their identity is given to one, they find it almost impossible to go over to another and defend/support any other identity.

And so we have now two standard laws which are applicable to collectives of men:

  1. A body requires a head.
  2. Once a body has a head, it does not require another.

Aside from this captain being human there is also the possibility and practice of associated elemental beings feeding from and subsequently taking over as chief authority. This is common also. The elemental is characterized and made strong by the community and later becomes a surrogate god to them … in narcissistic praise the stronghold of identity is assured.

Now when it comes to the priesthood we find a variation to this ruling, for it is that the honest priest defers his authority on to a higher one - this by definition, is what he does.

In Christian circles where there is such a priest, the community is in the unusual position of being free from the strangulation that may well inter their holy profits otherwise. The priest in his positioning is both powerful and humble, requiring that he is but a token authority which the focus and activity can continue to assemble around. But remarkably he is not only this either. Through him our Christ can actually become the presiding Presence, whereas without him, in such a community, it is very likely that there will be another instead of Him, one which blocks and confuses the whole holy experience.

Now, not to confuse matters here, but it must be said that eventually all men and women shall become as priests unto themselves - this is certain. But also, this cannot be effected, this divine authority ('divine' meaning in this context that we seek out the higher authority: to divine, to determine) this cannot be occasioned if we do not assume that authority within ourselves for ourselves. This is a very important position of ego which is being talked about here. It is not fainthearted or loosely committed to, but decided and seen, and the very reason we maintain that individuality needs be upheld, respected and worked hard for.

The difficulty and impossibility therefore, of laity-based organizations, which although Christian have no authoritative priest central and determining, is that assuredly the group will become very closed upon itself in accordance with the similar identity of all other non-Christian groups. The doorway to our Christ has been closed and an arrogance will prevail which becomes no more than a club with routines and rituals it lives to uphold.

This is proven in the controlling laws. Regardless of the excuses men make or the explanations they adhere to, let us say this most firmly: Christ loves us in FREEDOM. And any man or any group which creates controlling laws, which presumes to make men oblige collectively is a creation determined by either a man or an entity but not of CHRIST.

You cannot bring men to Christ through subjugation. This is what has made Him, as our Captain, so very, very different to all! How important this is. It is not just a point of contrast between one religious group and another in their methods of worship. This is crux and criterion for Christianity in toto.

Please understand that we are not endeavoring to be offensive when we call for such discrimination. For herein is the subject of Love itself as well. Love cannot be commissioned; it cannot be compelled, nor demanded. Love has nothing to do with the authority as described above in relation to men; and so we come now to the third most standard law:
3. That the body requires a heart.
Marriage, for example, is not defined or bound by law. Of course a marriage within the state (granted and recognized by men) is of law. But a marriage which is witnessed by Christ is only won through freedom and true love. Laws and compulsion, obligation and other such praiseworthy behaviors are separate to the issue of true marriage.

For too long the Church has been reconciled to defeat and failure. It has run its course, like a tired worn marriage which has emptied out its life and given over to but ritual and routine. This will not sustain its congregation, or its priest, and it can happen also that even with a priest in place he is unable to be responsive to Christ, and it is not guaranteed that he will be able to be effective in his role.

Whilst there have been difficulties when a priest has begun to take the devotions of his collective to himself, there can also be the concern when a very humble priest actually needs to assume more authority than he has done and be firmer amongst his own. For the will of another may contest him (materially or spiritually) and begin to block his good work by their assertive presence. He can remedy this by seeking out such conflicting influences, praying to uphold his position with integrity, and then egoically displaying his authority to the relevant contesting forces. These contesting forces are prevalent where good work is realized - unfortunately. Yet he shall have the strength required once he assumes his authority to be a responsibility in crisis. Crisis will become Christus! (It is not easy being priest!)

Regardless of our interrelationships and our alliances with this or that community of identity, we are thankfully always free, in truth, in Christ. This is a wonderful paradox.

Moment to moment we are free. No man is bound to any other or any entity or lesser god - whether they be inflicted with prejudice, pledged to Satan or crippled with some apoplexy of the mind. All are free, and let no man say otherwise.
